I got this little amp for 25.00 plus shipping, and its in working order besides the 6J5 that broke in shipment. The tube line up is 6V6 6V6 6SN7 6J5 80 12AT7. There is no markings on it anywhere to signify who the manufacturer is. It has the power transformer, output transformer and what i was told was a power supply choke. Any help would be appreciated. btw, i plan to at least replace the electrolytic caps before i use it.. thanks

Very nice score! A coworker of mine has a similar amp and it's a Western Electric.. It's a PP 6v6, 5y3 configuration used it for guitar and has brought to work a few times. It has 2 speaker hookups and was probably used a PA back in the 40-50's. IIRC, he paid ~$600 on ebay back in 2000! I'll see if he can send some pics as my memory of it's details faded a bit.

Yeah, i'll replace the caps down the line. If it has a 5Y3 in it, its likely late 40's to early 50's. I just dont think this is a WE, as they were mass producing the 302's in the early 40's and if it was one of there products it'd be clearly marked. I dont doubt your buddy paid that much for one on ebay.. As people have a tendency to jack up the price on tube amps just bc its for a guitar or it uses the same tube line up as a guitar amp, which is usually 6V6,12AX7, and 5Y3 bc them tubes are inexpensive usually and still produced today brand new. I'll have a total of about 44.00 in this thing, plus about 8.00 to re cap it... I just wish i knew a make and model so i can get a SAMS, that way i can know what the voltages should be.

He printed out the auction page and keeps it with the amp. Just about anything from Western Electric fetches some serious bux. I'll see if can get him to give me a copy.

Looks to me like a film projector amp. Maybe Filmosound, Bell & Howell or Kodak.

Got it recapped, either i am just using crap for speakers or this thing doesnt get loud enough for me, and doesnt have enough power. The reason being is this: . Made a few cap changes as usual, replaced a 20 mfd filter with a 33 mfd,(had it on hand) a .05 with a .047 on the volume knob, and a .01 with a .022 on the bass knob. The only reason for the .022 is due to me forgetting a cap, and its what i had on hand. So now i'm to the point with trying the current speakers i had on it and a single 6x9 (4 ohm) switching between them, but the odd thing is i didnt really get much for bass or treble reponse, and i replaced the treble cap with the exact value. I also had to crank the volume almost 3/4 of the way up to get a decent level. Which before i had tone response and didnt have to have the volume as high. I played "musical" 6V6's but there wasnt much difference. I dont have any other spares for this except an 80 and if i can sub the 12AT7 with a 12AX7, that would be the only other spare. I know it would help having real speakers, but i have to work with what i have at the moment. Anyone have any insight on this issue? anything would be appreciated. thanks..
