ID these JBL speakers

found a listing for these speakers, only states JBL speakers and some pictures, wondering if any recognizes this speaker. Not asking too much for them and they state that they are in great working condition. I thought some people here who can recognize parts and or crossover networks could ID them. Thanks so much for the help

Yea, I zoomed in on the woofer and could somewhat read the Model “23” as the last 2 digits so I am guessing it’s the D123, but not sure. They are asking $400 for them. Seller states they are solid wood, not veneer. I asked if there was a model number or anything, but nothing back as of yet.

So the seller replied and said they are similar to the JBL Barron’s that he owns. He stated...

.” Not sure the model and that’s very possible. In the 60’s you bought the plans and speakers from JBL and took them to a cabinet shop to be built. These are solid hardwood with very intricate legs and stands. I have some similar era JBL Barron’s that are much the same“

I looked up JBL Barron’s and did not find anything....

Hmm I already own Klipsch Forte and recently bought a tube amp for them, are JBL efficient like Klipsch and do they sound similar?
 
Looks like an EV T35 (?) tweeter horn on the right between the high mounted JBL woofer (?) and the lower mounted midrange.
If that's a square magnet the Midrange isn't a JBL driver either.
Sound would be the important thing - how do they sound to you?

Well I have not gone out to see the as of yet, where I am located in Texas, this kind of stuff does not come up often, so I have seen people buy stuff without even hearing them, which is hard for me to do, I’ve heard great things about JBL older speakers with horns, but need to hear them first.
 
Well, as I mentioned..... they go fast, went back to check on a reply from the guy asking if I could come by and sure enough, sold within 20 minutes of posting it, so obviously it was sold. Geez that is crazy, frustrating when people who have a 9-5 Job cannot take advantage of things for sale in the wild. Thank you everyone for the responses. Another one got away.
 
Nice enough looking cabinets, but those weren't Barons.
And those weren't JBL horns in there.
Then again, if someone offers JBL speakers with horns for $400/pr - RUN!!

I guess this explains why it sold in under 20 minutes. Crazy thing is I will probably see it listed again in about a day or so for $800 by the person that bought them, we get a lot of that around here.

Lotta folks these days working eBay and Craigs hoping to buy and flip stuff in short order and make money like those Pawn Star guys on TV!
They make it look so easy ... ;)

Honestly, the (internet) market has changed so much in the last 10-20 years!

The cabs looked nice enough, but the woofer was the only JBL component in them I think. The horn/driver, stamped metal mid, and crossover didn't look like anything JBL to me.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

When I worked for myself I was always searching CL and snipping the good stuff. Got to be quick, know what you want and show up with cash in hand. Now I have rooms full of gear I need to sell :beatnik:
