Hi, I have a nice Tehcnics RS-M270X (direct drive) that functions well except for the take up reel.
It plays fine but the take up reel seems weak. It starts to slip about 1/4 into some tapes, when the reel starts getting heavy, eventually causing tape to spool out of the cartridge.
Fast Forward works and will push past those heavy parts but slows way down near the end of the tape, and starts to slip.
Supply reel and rewind are strong, tape speed is very nice and consistent.
From what I've been reading I think this is an idler tire issue not supplying the friction needed for the transfer of torque to the take up reel, but before I try sourcing a replacement I'd like to ask for opinions here.
