I recently viewed an Iggy Pop concert on VH1 Classics. The concert was not dated but recent. I was thoroughly surprised. I almost tuned to something else because although I have a couple of Stooges albums that I listen to from time to time I kind of thought that Iggy after the Stooges was basically just some kind of no talent, homo, weirdo.
Well how wrong I was. I couldnt believe the good old RAW POWER Detroit, Mc5'ish sound I was hearing. The band was great. Iggy was laying it down like a 20 year old. Its almost unbelievable that older guys like Iggy and Mick Jagger can live the lives of Sex, Drugs, and Rock&Roll that they are reputed to have lived all these years and still have chisled muscle tone and the energy level of a kid. Iggy, I must say has Mick beat as far as energy level. Meanwhile all us working folks sit around worrying about cholesterol and staying out of the sun. Is it worth it?
Maybe we will luck out and not end up with the facial features of some of these rock veterans like Iggy, or maybe Keith Richards.
Anyhow if anybody gets a chance check out Iggy Pop. That is if you like good old balls to the wall guitar, volume, and big amp rock. Some classify this as Punk but I don't see it as anything other than good hard rock. Detroit style...
I'm not sayin Iggy comes from the motor city. I don't know......
