Well it's the day before Thanksgiving and I came home from work early for a long four day weekend! I am baking some pies for tomorrow's festivities and I am listening to some Christmas Jazz on yahoo, and enjoying some cold beer! I am actually having a good time!

I am baking two pumpkin pies and two buttermilk pies (they kind of taste like sugar cookies).
The beer is a Porter that Michelob is putting out now. It's not the best porter that I have ever had, but it's not bad. It's working for me today!

I wish everyone here at AK a very happy holiday!

I've always wanted a KitchenAid stand mixer! I did use a two wisk electric hand mixer, and it is made by KitchenAid!

Yes the buttermilk pie is tasty! Here is a link to the recipe:

Cool, thanks! I'm going to give that a try. Now to find a good pie crust recipe for the cuisinart...

We found a used Kitchenaid on ebay, 4 1/2 quart model. It's amazing how much labor it saves. Totally worth it.

I just popped the top on my second Yuengling, my sweet potatoes are baking, my turkey is washed and ready for the brine, and in a few minutes I'm going to start my dressing/stuffing recipe. Nice evening so far. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Clyde, I don't know that I'd trade my KitchenAid mixer for a brand new car. I use it nearly every day, and the more I use it the more uses I find for it. I make my own bread, cakes and pastries, use it to grind sausage and mix corn bread and a dozen other things besides. Some of the best money I ever spent, and I think it would live through an war.

Pumpkin pies going in the oven in the morning, here. :thmbsp:

I'm with Fotno on the KitchenAid, most-used appliance in our kitchen!

I make eggnog with my KitchenAid. Had mine about 20 years now. Thanksgiving andX-mas would be tougher without it. Don't stick your finger in the bowl while it's working.

Does that buttermilk pie taste anything like a Wick's Sugar Cream Pie that is such a Hoosier staple (at least down here in the center of the state (they're made in Winchester)?

I made one of these peanut butter pies last night. Unbelievable.

That peanut butter pie looks delicious!!!
I have never had the Wick's pie, maybe it is a central state thing. The buttermilk pie filling has a cake like feeling to it, only thicker and heavier. It is really rich, so one piece is usually enough!
