I want something compact that I can put on my work desk that has a nice big display on it. Optical out would be nice, but not necessary.

I have quite a pile of Sony Discman players. But none of them have the nice big display I am looking for.

I've been looking at micro systems too. Yamaha makes some nice ones. You can buy just the head unit I believe. Looking for new decent speakers the size of my Realistic Minimus 7's is proving quite a challenge.

Bose has some Companion 2 series III powered ones, But im turned off by this "TrueSpace® stereo digital processing circuitry". The last thing i want is somebody screwing with the sound with no way to turn it off. Polk has a nice pair of elite es10 passive speakers that get good reviews, but they are expensive.
