I just joined, I'm not a dealer but interested in what my gear is worth.

Yamaha MX-2000/CX-2000/TX-2000/DSR 70 Pro and DSP-3000 Pre-amp.

I got a range from Audiogon but want to know what it's worth to you guys, actual cash value. From people who have an appreciation for the equipment.

This could be good. Someone will offer decent pricing many times based on past ebay sales less a bit but these are not so common so limited numbers there. Then someone will bomb in and say some low ball number because that is what someone paid for a CL set or yard sale grab.

Somewhere around the audiogon/ebay numbers are correct but it depends on haw fast they need to move or if one is getting numbers for other reasons

for a first post it would be better to introduce yourself than to ask for help appraising your gear - you have very nice gear and it is very desirable , welcome to AK.

I agree that it isn't the very best first post, but at least he followed all forum rules and is only asking value without mentioning any motive of a possible sale. I see no real problem with him getting right to the point of value, without all the handshaking and hellos.

With that said, ebay completed sales can be easily found, and the average of 3-5 completed sales will give you a good starting point on value. Items that are too rare to find a few recent sales can be harder to estimate, and that's where we'd be of help.

Welcome to AK.

I'll confine my remarks to the MX-2000 and CX-2000 as I'm most familiar with those pieces.

The potential value is dependent on condition: an MX-2000 in perfect cosmetic and working order can sell for $1500; a CX-2000 in similar condition can bring $1200.

If I was selling these pieces I'd list them for BIN prices on eBay with the best pictures I could take showing their condition. The market for this gear at premium prices are hard core Yamaha fans.

You will have a much better chance of selling these pieces at those prices if you can assure potential buyers that the gear will be properly packed (check out AK threads on packing). These buyers really want the gear, and will be leery of buying from someone who may not pack the gear properly.

Unless you have a stellar reputation for packing heavy audio gear, I recommend pre-packing the pieces using the packing instructions found in the aforementioned AK threads, with pictures of the packing at various stages.
