Im torn between recievers........

Hola, im trying to decide which reciever I want and im torn between two that are available. Im looking at an Pioneer SX-850 in great working order, and Sansui 5000X, I love them both, but can only have one. I can pick up the Pioneer for considerably less, but the Sansui is local and I have auditioned it. And it sounds like warm butter melting on toast ( if there is such a sound ), the Pioneer is not local , but not far either.


The Pioneer is guaranteed and has recently been serviced with paperwork, as has the Sansui. I. Just looking for quick input on the two, opinions welcome and appreciated!!! Thank you.

Both have approximately the same output power but the Pioneer is supposed to weigh 19kg whereas the Sansui is 15kg. That's about 9 pounds in the Pioneer's favor. I'd go for that one.
 
sx-850 for less than a 5000x? Not a usual deal in my parts. I would have to say it boils down to what sound you enjoy more? The buttery sansui or the more straight up less colored sound of the Pioneer? Which looks nicer in your eyes?

Man, its a tossup. The Pioneer is asthetically more pleasing, im currently running my Kenwood KA-7100 seperate, just looking to go integrated. And hoping either out perform the Kenny.

dunno if they will beat that Kenny, but the Sansui would sound a bit "different" . Sometimes that is what we all want, a bit of change.

Welp, I picking them both up!! Im getting a great deal on both units, so, you know, we only live a short time and once, so, now I can really put them head to head in my setup. Who knows, maybe I will have different daily tastes?

Well actually the 7100 is an integrated amplifier, the others are receivers, and the 7100 is very schveet. Purchased one new in 78, recently feeling nostalgic I was looking to get another but purchased a KA7300 for its ability to be used as a preamp instead. Either way you're on your way to building quite the supply of nice amps.

Big mistake.
If, you have enough room to set them both up at the same time.
Because you will. Need another TT?
 
Get efficient speakers, and keep the Sansui. I like it better than any Pioneer SX-*50 or SX*80 series ever made. And I've owned both. I like the earlier Pioneers better soundwise when working right. But don't hate Pioneer SX 50 or SX 80 series either. I use a Sansui 4000 every day. And I chose it. I had easy access to either.
 
I think you will make permanent room in the rack for both. Add a Marantz and you'll be good to go.
