In Search of ….. 16 ohm 8” 40 watt woofer

I own a pair Realistic T-100 tower speakers. I replaced one of the woofers some years back with an 8 ohm woofer. Just recently I learned that each cabinet has 2- 16 ohm woofers wired in parallel (8 ohms). I’ve searched the entire internet for a 16 ohm replacement to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find one? Please see the pic.

I have no idea if this would in any way be a sonic match, but it is technically 8-inches and 16 ohms albeit dual voice coil.

Have you set up an alert to be notified if any are listed on ebay?
Or you could check there and keep checking as well.

A typically fruitless search for stock woofer replacements seems to be the bane of this vintage model in later life. Though you might get lucky -- one never knows.

If original replacement can't be found and you consider replacing both within a cabinet for a matching pair, another option is to use 4 Ohm units wired in series. There are a variety out there that might be worth a look.

T-100 box volume is approx. 2.5 cu. ft. (before subtracting displacement of drivers) for purposes of estimating bass response using bass box calculators.

I bet you won't find an exact match.

I have a pair of SEAS by Sennheiser SE-2 speakers. Two 8" 16 ohm woofers in parallel. It's sort of a slightly smaller Dynaco A50. Very good speakers.

I also have a couple spare woofers. Model is SEAS 21 TV EW. Probably hard to find, but might work. Best to replace all 4 rather than having 1 be a different model.

Two 4 ohm woofers in series, if you can somehow get approximate match on the TS specs, or if you just get lucky, might be best.
