We are using two old KAM wireless UHF Mics in a small hall (Model KWM1932 or KMW1940). Generally they work reasonably well. However when the hall is full, or people get in the way, then we experience dropouts in the signal from time to time which is anoying. The usual tricks are to make sure the batteries are good, hold the mic high and speak as close as possible to the mic. The receiver is about 4 feet off the floor and we can't move it any higher. The original antennas are 8 cm tall. Does anyone have experience using longer antennas in these situations?
I have 2 questions.
1- If I tape 2 longer antennas to the side of the original UHF receiver antennas will they work by induction? (I am thinking 8 cm original and 4x longer = 32 cm)
2- Does anyone know if using longer antennas will help at all or make matters worse?
I know the only way to find out is to try, but was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience in this kind of situation. Your advice would be appreciated
