Inexpensive quality speakers

I'd go $45.00 on those just out curiosity, even if they need a re-foam. Not a lot of info to be found on the web but several favorable reviews here on AK.

16 years later.... I have a question:

I have an opportunity to buy an excellent condition Model Six pair of speakers. For $45. Maybe could negotiate for $40. I don't know if the crossovers or the surrounds need work, but the seller say no. If so, would you experts -- recommend picking them up? (What appears to be blemishes on the grills are sun reflections).

I don't have any experience with these, but a well-regarded AKer seems to think they're not bad.

Ive asked to see a picture of them without the grills so i could visually see them. If they pass visual muster, i might go have a listen. They're not far.

My other speakers are JBL L1s, Boston Acoustic CR95, A70, and Cambridge Soundworks Tower IIIs. Plus à really nice Energy Sub. The A70 has its cone pushed in -- inside the woofer -- but the sound is outstanding so I'm not planning on spending money to get this fixed at the moment.

I want to end up with just 2 pairs to work as fronts for a stereo system. Not using for TV, AV, and/or surround sound.

Just what is expensive varies from person to person. I thought a grand for a new pair of Maggie LRS+ was a great buy.

$45 is a very good price for this decently
high-quality pair.

I guess the better question is, price aside, would the Model Six outperform any of the ones I already have?
