Infinity Crescendo Speaker Replacement?

Paul Poole

I found a pair of these speakers at a thrift store for $20 and figured it would be easy to replace any speakers that needed it. The woofer and mid range speakers are dry rotted. Unfortunately the speakers are not held in the enclosure by any typical/known fastener. Does anyone here know how to remove these speakers????

Hi. There should be plastic trim rings on all drivers but the tweeters (Emit-R). each driver will have 4 screws thru the trim rings. The drivers are also glued in, with a pretty stout adhesive.
You will want to order foam replacement surrounds for the drivers and follow directions to re-foam them.
These are a great example of Infinity sound. One of the sought-after models.
Go the the Infinity forum here on AK.

my two cents Stu

Welcome to A.k. !
You might even consider sending them off to get repaired. 'simply speakers' (no affiliation) is a sponsor here. I've ordered from them, too like many. They can perform the service if you're not confident. If you diy then get the glue adhesive that is water based. Gives you time to align versus instant contact. Key might be the 'spiders' are very tight so alignment could be critical.

" typical/known fastener." they are most likely "Allen head" wood screws.
