Most domes go about $175 per pair....The only reason those sold for so much is because they still looked clear....Someone probably put a hairdryer on them prior to posting to clear them up. Not bad he got $200.00 extra for making them look newer.

Try contacting miller sound and talk to Bill. He is the best to fix a kappa polydomes.

I just found a pair of polydomes for my Kappa 8.1's. They are better than any other replacements I have seen. No cloth or paper domes. Original Infinity speakers with original looking domes. I installed them and was thrilled with the sound. Just like originals. They are built by SoundSense in Alabaster, Alabama. They are not the cheapest, but I think it was money well spent to keep my favorite speakers working. They told me that they can also rebuild yours. I chose to buy a pair that they advertised on e-bay. So I could keep my failed ones for spares to have them rebuilt for my 6.1's. Look them up. The packaging was amazing and the domes were intact. I highly recommend them to every Kappa lovers. My speakers look new again!!!

I think if they are pure polypropylene their surround would be too stiff/hard to allow the dome to easily move that's why the RSDS polydome made out of poly has a cloth surround so it can move more like the soft original polydome

.. it strongly depends on the detailed properties of the material, additives etc .. PP can also come with softeners that is changing its properties strongly just to mention one option. another significant influence on how stiff or not the material is comes from the thickness as well. if you are for example comparing a rather stiff IMG woofer from infinity (also made of PP) or a PP film that could be used for packagingfruits purposes of course there is a huge difference. Regarding your point of the surround of the dome that is behaving like a spring, you can also trim the properties with material geometry, thickness etc.
Finally, all the polydomes replacements on the market sound a little bit different and at the end of the day it is a matter of (acoustical) taste as well and also if you are willing to replace an originally transparant polydome you might have had in kappa 8/9 once upon a time with an e.g. black or silverish one (e.g. cloth or titan dome)..
