Infinity Quantum 4 Questions

Those are dead ringers for the originals I hope the actual drivers match those images.
 
To Buy or Not To Buy...

I came across a listing on craigslist for a pair of Infinity Quantum 4s, seeming to be in very good aesthetic condition. However, it is mentioned that the kids pushed the speaker components in so "pretty sure the speakers themselves don't work". In the pictures the cone of the woofer is pushed in, but I've had many speakers in that condition that work perfectly.

Now, if that's possibly all that they're talking about, and taking into account the uncertainty factor, is $120 a good deal for a pair of these? Looks like the woofers might need refoamed as well, but that's not a biggie.

I am a BIG fan of Infinity, and paired with my Yamaha electronics has really worked well for me of the past many years. I refoamed my SM-122s a while back because I could not find any towers that sounded better, but these Quantum 4 speakers are something special.

Anyway, I wanted to ask Quantum owners, and/or those in the know as to what I should look for as I bring these back to life. The woofers need a refoam, so I am thinking about the Watkins service.

One grille frame is separating from the grille body, any suggestions on a proper adhesive to use?

The cabs seem like solid wood, is this the case?

Should I look for anything else while I am in there? I was probably going to leave the other drivers alone and try them out after the woofers come back, that is unless there is something I should do to them in the meanwhile.

I had my Q4 woofers re-coned, as well as the mid ranges. What my concern is that the C/O pots are intermittent because of their age. I think the C/O was epoxy’d in place, so I can’t see how the pots can be cleaned or replaced. All I could think of is detach the wires an install a metal rim resistor between them. (Metal-Film resistor half the value of the pot)

I did finally finish this project (QLS-4 rebuild) as a result of my Covid downtime last year, and they sound incredible! I drive them with my mighty Yamaha MX-1 amp, and the pairing is magic. I could not figure out how to remove or take the pots off (or apart) to clean, so for now I do not touch them, I tried to spray some contact cleaner in the small side openings, but at some point I want to try again and get them out to clean them properly (or replace them). As I recall, they had a wire bar that looks like it keeps them secure in place.

I also lined the sides with 1" thick foam before returning most of the Kodel stuffing back in. I had NOS mids that I bought back about a decade ago when they were blowing them out from the German manufacturer on Parts Express. I repaired the tweeters with new membranes from AVA...but was not a perfect simple replacement on my model EMITs, but I was provided with modification instructions that worked out in the end. Lastly, I paid a local speaker repair company to refoam my Watkins woofer. I hooked everything up, and was so very happy with the sound quality. The cross overs seem to work still, so only the pots were not working well.

I have the same fear with my repaired Q4s. I tried to clean the pots with contact cleaner, but difficult trying to reach from through the woofer opening. Some got in via some small side openings, so I worked the dials a bit to try and work off some corrosion. I could not figure how to remove the C/O plate to try and clean the pots properly (if possible, looks like a metal bar keeps the top half on), so decided to set set the dials and leave them alone. No issues yet, but know that someday I will need to replace.
