Infinity RS 325

Hi folks,

New to the site. Neophyte at repairs. First question:

I have a pair of RS 325 speakers I've used for years in home recording studio.

One speaker has lost sound from the tweeter. If I take off the grill and remove the plastic tweeter cover, one is missing the metal coil completely. I assume it came loose and is inside the cabinet.

The question is: how do I get in there and fix it. The cabinet looks completely sealed.

Haven't looked up said speakers but with your short description? It's not in the cab but its not really a coil on a tweet.. more of a membrane and the little coil is stuck to the inside of the magnet. probably shorted itself out.

Hopefully I'm wrong..

Thanks. I can probably upload a photo but I'll try to describe first:

In the working tweeter there is a heavy metal ring about 1/2" think, with a small cone and two wires connected. This snaps into a plastic holder held by 3 screws and set into the front piece of the cabinet behind the cloth grille.

In the other speaker, there is only the plastic holder.?Also, if you move the cabinet something is inside.

There is no obvious way into the cabinet. The back is glued on, and the front holding the speakers had no screws.

However, it looks as if I remove the woofer the will be a big enough hole to work inside. These are bookshelf speakers, so not much room to hide inside. I am trying that now.

Fixed. Once the woofer was removed I found the tweeter assembly actually stuck to the woofer magnet. No wonder it stopped rattling around.

Looks like no damage, I just need to snap it back in its holder and reassemble.
