Infinity RS-5001 rebuild, or...

So, I picked up a pair of Infinity RS5001 speakers that need the woofer surrounds redone... maybe a bit of filling and painting on the cabs. I don't see any reason to strip the black paint that a PO put over the fake oak veneer (at least I assume it's not a real wood veneer by the feel of things). But, I don't really need another set of mid-sized speakers sitting around. Are these worth saving, or should I just pull the drivers for a future project and not worry about rescuing what seem to be a mid-level offering from Infinity. It's not like I'd be tearing apart some Beta's or anything. Thoughts?

Plenty of reviews on these. Many followers. Fixing them up to you.

If you decide not to fix maybe consider before Frankensteining them moving too one of the many who care for the vintage Infinities to bring back to life as they were meant to be.

If your intent is just to flip them for a profit, the repairs necessary to make them more presentable and fully functional is really only a few bucks and some time on your end... cabs are not that bad (I agree, not worth stripping), and you should have no problem getting rid of them intact.

Well, I know the cost to put them back to presentable isn't much. The original woofers play... just need new surrounds. The paint job isn't all that bad, and will only upset a true Infinity collector. An audiophile will probably overlook it for the right price. I hadn't thought these would specifically be flippers, but, for what I have invested, I guess they could be. I have other emits sitting around and thought that it wouldn't be the end of the world to part them out and store the drivers for future projects. But, yeah... maybe just put them back to original (minus the oak color) and decide what to do from there. I guess I have another project!
