Infinity RSb vs Yamaha NS-690

rode2rouen

Dyslexics Untie!
I currently have a pair of Infinity RSb speakers which are being powered by my Yamaha CR-620 (a Yamaha CR-1020 is on deck), and they sound awesome.
I was told of a pair of Yamaha NS-690 speakers (needing woofers refoamed) for relatively cheep.
Has anyone done an A/B comparison of the RSb's with the Yamaha NS-690's?
If so, what is your opinion of the two?

I had the 690 and reference studio monitors which are close to the rsb and will say to me the 690 was the better of the 2. The 690 is much smoother and natural sounding, especially the midrange. The 690 doesn't have the top end sparkle and snap of the emit but is not lacking in any way. The low end was comparable, not thundering but solid and clean. Overall I feel the 690 is a class above the Infinity and its lower distortion makes it much more enjoyable for extended listening. I would still have mine if one didnt suffer a damaged woofer after a move. Also cabinet quality is better on the 690. Just my opinion.
