Infinity sm-155 and sm-152

Just need some info, I have one infinty sm-152 and one sm-155 I'm having trouble with the crossovers on each of these it's the mind control I clean them with contact cleaner a couple of times still has that cracking sound in the mids, I was wondering if I could just bypass that crossovers and place different crossovers would anyone know of a cheap replacment crossover?

Not really. Crossovers are tuned to the drivers so replacing them with something that's not for them will mess up the sound. I see Crossovers on Ebay for that model all the time.
 
Ok thanks for the reply I seen them on ebay as well just afraid of buying something that might be doing the same thing any ideals on good contact cleaner ? I picked up a off brand can at wally
 
If you can find out what type of L-pad/potentiometer, which might be shown in a crossover diagram, it might be something that could be ordered from Mouser, Digikey, etc.

Here's the SM-155 crossover diagram and the SM-152 crossover diagram after a quick search.

In doing another quick look at pictures, via an easy Google search, it would seem it's just a basic L-pad. Just find something similar in size like this one from Parts Express and go with it, I guess. Not to mention, there's always parts on eplay auction.

True. Do you have another pair of anything you can hook in place of the Infinity's and maybe even a different amp? Just to cover your bases.

I j have been working on a pair of Infinity SM152s that had problems with the L-Pads. I sprayed them as well as I could with contact cleaner but they were still scratchy. The mids were also dropping out even when the mid level controls were not being turned. The glue holding all of the parts together pulled off the plastic face piece easily with needle nose pliers.
Put a jumper over CB-2 points on the circuit board and listen to whether the mids start playing.
You may be able to douse both the circuit breakers CB-1 & CB-2 ( Culver 06A-30 and the other breaker behind it in pic ) and get things working but I just bypassed both of them. Doing so made a dramatic improvement in the sound staging and dynamics of the mid and tweeter.
If your mid and tweeter pots are still scratchy, use a small to liberal amount of WD-40 on them after using contact cleaner.
The photo shows one jumper soldered in place for the mid circuit breaker in middle of board above caps- sorry its blurry :-). The other CB location is adjacent to it.

I took them out and used some contact cleaner and so far they seem to b be working, and with all you said about bypassing and it made the mids and highs sound better, But I don't understand all that wish I did I would redo them plus a pair of jbl L46's I liked to recab, but don't know the vaules and capacitor's that are needed, I wish there was a person around close I could learn from.
