There really are Infinity speakers that sound like garbage. I remember walking into a Circuit City in the mid 90s and auditioning Infinity branded speaker-like "things" that looked and sounded like a$$. I remember thinking it didn't take very long for HK to steer the brand into the toilet.

Seems like this group gets no moderation at all these days. Maybe everyone is just very well behaved. Who watches?

Of course I remember the old Mod, even if it was from the periphery back in the day. It's good to hear from you again!

But what's with this 'best regards' s#it? Goin' somewhere -- or just yanking our chains AGAIN?

Good to see signs of life from your corner - welcome back!

Alive and kicking...

There is more truth to the story then I care to admit.

I thought I'd reached the point of knowing something about Infinity speakers and I'll be damned...no not really.

I dusted off the Delta's I rebuilt, what going on three years ago now :scratch2:

I was about to get the soldering iron out and do surgery because they just weren't right, I was kicking a 1/4 turn right rudder into the Nakamichi preamp because one speaker was stronger than the other. And it was frustrating the crap out of me and I hadn't played them much because of that and hadn't had the time to futz with them.

Long story short, nothing wrong with the speakers! The Denon mono blocks have a tiny gain control that I must of bumped or the grandson messed with and turned it almost 90 degrees. I found it last night after cussing my poor soldering effort for all this time as Glenn knows :sigh:

So now I'm happy and the Misses is not so much cuz I had the place ROCK'n last night! Damn they place sweet, f'ing loud too :D

I better go take something I'm not as young as I once was...can't drink like I used too...but it was a great party last night:thmbsp:

Q: Where does the King keep his Armies?

A: In his sleevies!

;-)

EDIT: When I clicked on this thread, I thought for sure it would be about the Infinity "SM" speakers! ;-)

Nice to see you again, took me back a few years and made me ponder how long
I have been here.

You will buy Bose and blow our doors off?
Oh Yeah? You and what Army?!
(Pun intended. :D)

Welcome back! :thmbsp:

Nice to hear that your "problem" was only a bumped control knob, and not anything more serious. Bags of cats and fingernails on chalkboards and such just don't sound as good when they are unbalanced!

So- you're in East Central Iowa. I just checked Google maps and I am wondering, with a hobby of collecting vintage audio equipment what do you plug it into? Maybe cornstalks or a passing John Deere? How do you have access to the internet? Satellite? If your speakers sound like a screaming bags of cats MAYBE that's what you are hearing...

I did notice that most posters to your OP are rather seasoned, so apparently your reputation far exceeds you and probably most deservedly so, therefore welcome back even though I have no idea who you are and where you were. If you like Infinities you can't be entirely bad and since I was born in a corn field in Postville (NE Iowa) we have at least two things in common.

How've you been?
