Infinity Surrounds Repaired

Rod G-6000

Do I See Silver?!!
I had some time today so I figured I would try my luck at replacing the surrounds on my girls Infinity RS 3000's. She purchased these new in the early 80's and they have never been touched. I'm surprised they have lasted this long.
This is my first attempt to ever replace the foam surrounds on any speaker.
With a replacement kit purchased from member ReEdger, (Thanks Again) they are a perfect fit.
Not to bad of a process if you take your time. These were still very tacky, sticky, gooey or whatever you would call it, from the old surrounds.

They turned out pretty good.

Hi Rod, thanks for the pictures. Nice looking job. Now you can do them with ease.

Did you shim the voice coil? Just curious.

Mike

For my first ones, I didn't remove the dust cap and shim the VC.
All is good as there is no VC rub and they sound great.

Thanks John & Urizen.

What helped the most is AK and the people here.. With the large amount of information on refoaming, different techniques, great links and advise from members, I thought I would try it for myself. I'm glad I did.

Can you please tell me what is surround foam size for the RS 3000's woofer (8' #902-2666)? Also, are they angled or flat type? Because i'll need to do it, too.
Also, if you can send me better pics of the re-foam process you done, pm me for email. Thanks man!
P.S. I think RS 3000 are made from 1988-1990, and your woofer looks slightly diferent from mine?
...sorry about bad english...
