Info and Issues with my Dual 502

Hey all, I recently purchased a Dual 502 in great condition, I was told it has a Shure(sp?) cartridge, a baby blue one. I was wondering if someone knew anything about this cartridge or did they make different models with the same colours?

Also, my main issue is that I'm getting almost a croaking sound when I play records, the best way to describe it is that it's like a frog except it's one consistent drone, like Brian Eno Ambient Frog 1. You can hear it steadily going when certain albums are on, sometimes it's there sometimes it's not and I'm starting to wonder if it's only the 180 gram records contributing to it. Don't know if the thicker vinyl can affect the cartridge performance?

Obviously I don't know too much about any of this but any help would be much appreciated. I tried searching online about the croaking sound but couldn't find anything related. Thanks in advance and sorry about being a total newb about all of this.

Thanks!

It's not that one but thanks for responding, after doing more research I realize how lazily newbish I sounded and should at least learn to remove the cartridge etc. Got a ways to go.

Removing the cartridge is very easy on this, but not obvious. The finger-lift on the tonearm rotates towards the back. Once fully rotated, the cartridge and its carrier will just drop out - so keep your free hand under the cart while rotating the lift.

The sound might be from a worn out belt, or from dried lubrication in the innards. It's actually not a bad table, I have one, just don't like the cheap plastic base - it would look great with a DIY walnut base...
