Info on a black Pioneer PL-570

Doesn anyone know anything about this turntable? The guy says it's a PL-570 but I don't think it's the one that was built in the 70s and it doesn't look like it's the plastic one. Did Pioneer make a PL-570 around the time they were making the PL-L1000, like around the early 80s?

That is a PL-514X (X meaning black). It's a belt drive, auto-return, synchronous motor (so not pitch controls). Good model, but far from a PL-570. The 570 was 1976-77 while the 514 was 1978. Hard to believe people don't know what they have, but you see it all the time.

I think fifty bucks is probably about right if it's in very good condition, both cosmetic and functional, if it's not plus shipping. UPS charges to Gor can be really exorbitant. :D

I Gotta think the seller can read the model number off the plinth. It's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like "PL-" plus three digits, no "X".

There was a later PL-570, belt drive, built from 1986 to 1989. That might be what this is. Sure looks like a PL-514 though.

The pic he used he just took off of the internet and isn't the pic of the turntable he actually has. The one he has is the later one that Pioneer produced.

Too funny :) I saw that one too, and thought it looked like a PL-514X. Then you said PL-570 and I thought, time to get my eyes checked. Knucklhead figured, heck its a Pioneer so why not use the picture:yes:

There's a pic of a later PL-570 at classic-audio.com. It's Pioneer and it's black but there the similarities end. The photo's not much for detail but it's possible to see that 1). it's got a straight tone arm & P-mount cart and 2). controls are outside the dust cover.

It has all the hallmarks of a true "budget" turntable. I think I'd pass on it, not least because the seller seems to be quite ready to misrepresent what s/he's selling.

I would have been pissed if I would have driven down to Castle Rock too. I'm glad you guys figured out what it was!

But hey, I picked up that PL-A45D that was on there today for $40. Have it playing right now - sounds pretty good after I reset everything.

Granted, but if this genius just uses a pic of any old black Pioneer, we're still not talking high IQ.
