Info on Panasonic SA-40

Hello everyone,
I've recently acquired a vintage Panasonic SA-40 Solid State stereo receiver. I don't have a manual and I am somewhat perplexed about this receiver. I've hooked up the speakers and set my volume, but the only way I can get any sound is if I press down the stereo/mono switch. Is this normal? Is there another way? The stereo/mono switch is very loose and I think it will fail soon.

it should work in stereo or mono . it shouldn't be loose so it needs looking at

I guess that switch directly impacts the output of sound to the speakers and overrides the other volume controls. Thank you for responding.

Its quite possible that it has become loose and cold solder in its setting. You might have to open it up and get to the main board and resolder it. Everything should be nice and loud in stereo or mono.

Yes, the circuit board behind the stereo/mono switch was the problem. I repositioned it and Wow.....the sound is great!! This is really a very nice unit. Thanks for your information.
