Info on these marantz speakers?

Hope you guys don't mind me asking my "how are these speakers" questions. Just want some info on these marantz speakers. I'll be checking them out later on tonight. Sorry for the small pic.

BTW, are marantz speakers something to look for or should I look at other brands?

Little hard to tell, but they don't look like very good Marantz. There are some- the HD series, the Imperials...but they made some junky ones as well.

I wouldn't dedicate my search to just Marantz... expand your horizons a bit, you'll find there are many good speakers out there!

If the price is right, they are probably acceptable. They kind of have that "80's rack system" look to them.

That said, I own four Marantz Imperial 7 speakers, and one set are my primary ones. Wouldn't trade them for anything less than, say, some Klipsch Heresies (which nobody in their right mind would offer). I really like the sound the Marantzes put out.

Best thing to do is listen to them and see what you think.

I have recently had a couple paur of the older Marantz products, The Imperial 7's and HD 770's both were quite fine speakers IMHO. I seem them on "that" auction sight frequently going for fair money. You get the better deals when the shipping is close and they need a refoam or two. I liked the Imperial types because of their classic sound and the blue cones matched the received so well too! The HD's tended to be more refined in their looks and perhaps their sound.

Thanks for the advice guys. BTW, I picked these speakers up last night since I need something in my living room at the moment. One of the speaker's mids isn't working though. I'll inspect that more tonight when I get home.
