inherited a bunch of gear - working out what's best

Update ...

New woofer installed. Simple drop in replacement. At first I thought I had a crackling sound in the new speaker - but it turned out to be because I tested it with my turntable and some old vinyl (new thing learned - test it with a CD or similar).

Shout out to Audio Visual Revolution, who are the Wharfedale distributors in Australia. Great customer service and fast too.

So the speakers are done. I have decided in the end to have the Dual serviced as well and have made contact with a repairman and will do that over the next couple of weeks. And I've sourced the repair for the old Sony amp (though I'll do that a little into the future when budget allows).

Getting there with it all! Sounds great so far and will only get better as the premium components are added in.

Regards
Bern

The key to this in my mind is to be sure to seal the two halves of the crack away from each other slightly so that they can't buzz. Smear RTV into the crack, then some around the crack.
