Like the title states, just looking to see where this deck stands in terms of sound quality and longevity. Picked one up yesterday at the thrift for $20 and figure it will be a good first cassette deck to own. I’ve found lots online about the specs of it, but I don’t know much about cassettes, or what to compare it to from other brand’s flagships. Any personal experience or info you guys have would be great

No experience with that model-seems like they did not sell tons of them, compared to Teac, Pioneer, Sony, etc.
If it plays a test\expendable tape without issue, then get a Maxell UDXLII tape, and try recording (decks of that era generally will be set up well for that tape), and test the recording. If it sounds good, your judgement is really what's important.

Be aware that any deck is now between 30 and 50 years old (yours-30+ years). A fully restored low end deck will often outperform a high end deck just brought down from the attic. Condition (now) is just as important as performance level when new (then).
