Installing a volume controled Phone Jack

on a DVD player. Are there any DVD Players with a Stereo Phone jack and volume control. If not, I suspect I could rob a amp out of a CD Player and connect it to the post D/A in a DVD player and use it fine??

I often have a need to watch a movie with headsets and I have a Swenson modified Toshiba DVD unit that should do the trick?? Chuck

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question (DVD player with a VC headphone out), but do you use the analog outputs of your DVD player? If you only use the digital outputs to a surround receiver, the analog outs can easily feed an external headphone amp. Seems easier than internally modding a unit.

There's lot's of players that have an adjustable headphone output level.


If you're looking to drive actual headphone, then yeah, it's best to drive them from some kind of a more sturdy amplifier stage.

You can, as mentioned, feed your decoder/amp/receiver and use it's volume control.

You could by an external headphone amp, if your looking for a small, transportable package.

You could, if your experienced and/or daring, install an amp and jack on your player.
