Hello. When installing new axial capacitors in crossovers, toward which direction should the negative lead go? Does it make a difference which direction the negative versus the positive lead go?
Capacitors used in speaker crossovers should be non polarized, so no "positive" or "negative" end in this capacitors. If your capacitors have negative or positive ends, they are not suited for speakers crossovers.

Does it have a + or - marked on the case somewhere? If so, thats a polarized cap. If the originals have no markings, they are non-polar and you need non-polar to replace them.
These are non-polar caps ready for use in a crossover.
The data sheet for the Sonic Craft Gen 2 says the shorter lead is the sheath of the cap. This makes sense as in some applications knowing the outer from the inner connections to the internals can allow proper installation. Some know it, some have to look it up (me, included) whether one puts the sheath/outer film on the signal source, keeping the output covered and protected from the electrical environment surrounding the cap or connect that sheath to the cap output side adding all the emf/rfi to the signal as it goes forward. I'm guessing the former based on my uneducated description of the issue when installed in electrical components.
For a speaker I don't think it makes a different, the speaker isn't in a box full of electronics. But I would do both of them the same in the two speakers.
