Integra DTR 8.8 vs Yamaha DSP-A1

I currently have a Yamaha DSP-A1, and I really like it and am using it with all 7 channels plus a subwoofer. The only thing I dislike about it is that there is no A/B selector as it only has hookups for 1 pair of mains, and I want to be able to have 4 mains for when I crank music in stereo. So I have come across two options. I can buy a Kenwood KM 106 amplifier and hook it to the DSP via the pre outs, or I can buy an Integra DTR 8.8, and use that for everything. The DTR does not have A/B hookups, but it is multi zone, so I would use zone 2 as my second pair of big stereo speakers, and turn on zone 2 when I'm listening to music. The Kenwood is half the price of the Integra. Which is the better deal/setup?

I will run them both at the same time at highish volume and I don't want to overload the reciever with too few ohms.
What are the two pairs of speakers you want to run simultaneously (nominal impedance of the speakers)? The switch box could still work assuming the speakers impedance in parallel are not less than what the A1 is rated for. You could have your mains (preferred ones) wired into the A1 and also bring the connection from your A1 mains out to the selector switch box. If you don't want to run both, just press another unused speaker out on the switch box. This would disconnect your 2nd set.

Is this kind of what you are looking for?

I just looked up the specifications for the mains out. It only mentions 8 ohms (not to say it can't handle 4 ohms).... What are the two sets you want to run? Do you always want to run two sets or just when cranking tunes?

It has an impedance selector, one for 8-16, one for 4-6. All of my speakers are 8, so if I use an A/B selector it will drop it down to 4. I only use 4 when I'm cranking toons. When I'm watching movies I just have the fronts on.

The one pair are Klipsch 8.5s and the others are Bic Venturi 6s. Believe it or not they sound great together, at least to me anyways. I listen to mostly rock.

Not positive, but I think I read the impedance selector is for just the center channel?

There is the impedance switch, which is for all of the channels, and a separate center selection switch because you can use one or two centers. I really like the DSP so I'm leaning towards just getting a power amp with A/B channels. The Integra is cool though, so many features.

I vote for the amp too. Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing on their higher end pieces like your A1 is pretty neat.

Now I just need to find the perfect amp. I found that Kenwood for $100, which I think is a little much. I also found an Audiosource Model Amp 3 for $65, which I think is an okay price, but it's 2 hours away. Also, one think I wish I had is a working factory remote for the A1. The one that came with it doesn't work, and my harmony remote I bought only works for volume and power.
