Got bored a couple days ago and started messing around.
Decided to hook up a set of Telefunken (cool name) SB-86 Speakers to a Quadraflex Reference 180R. I have to say the combo is pretty sweet.
The speakers are from a Telefunken Bayreuth Studio 105 Console stereo, which I got from a guy that was a hoarder. I helped him clean up his back yard after the city got on him. The console and speakers were under a tarp in his back yard!
The console is tube preamp and solid state power amp. The right channel has a melted transducer? on it and I haven't got it repaired. The left channel sounds great. Pretty sweet console. I believe there is a thread about it here somewhere. I seem to have lost it after AK Changed formats.
Anywho, the Quadraflex I got from a recycler on e-bay. I paid very little for it and was skeptical, but the thing showed up cleaner than any vintage receiver I have bought and fully functional. Even the pots and switches don't make noise.
Of course the Receiver is (from what I have read) 18 wpc. I have hooked a few speakers up to it and never really liked the sound of it. (I use a 450 in my bedroom system) But these telefunken speakers are a great match to me. The speakers are 4 ohm with (what I can gather from google translate) a power rating from 6 to 40 watts and a nominal rating of 30 watts. I forgot to take measurements but I think they have an 8" woofer and two, maybe, 5" X 8" drivers. Interesting design to me. I really love the looks of these speakers to. And their called a Klangbox. (sorry, that just sounds sweet, think about it, Klangbox.)
I am listening with loudness on and the bass up one notch. It is quite impressive how low this system will go. I think what I like the most is the treble doesn't destroy my ears. ( I have tinnitus issues (to young for that but oh well)). They don't go super high but the range that they cover seems very even to me. No sounds really "stick out" but nothing is "hidden in the background".

I have to agree with the guys review. you have to be on "axis" with the speakers, but at that point they sound great to me. Off axis, treble muffles quickly.
Also included some pics of my own. (holy cow, thank you auto draft save. My computer froze up right at this point in typing. thought I lost it all but low and behold its still here.
