Interesting EV Esquire variation

The EV Esquire was a small, vented three-way system of (by modern standards, anyway) high efficiency, and they happen to sound pretty good. eBAY today has an auction featuring a pair of EV Esquires that are different than any I've seen before. As the seller correctly points out, some Esquires used the excellent EV Wolverine LS8 fullrange as an extended MR, while others used a much more nondescript small MR driver in an 8" sealed-back basket enclosure.

What's interesting about the Esquires in the present auction is that the T35 tweeters seem to be mounted coaxially to the 12BW woofers... almost like a 12TRXB, but with no whizzer. These don't need whizzers, since they use LS8's to do the job. Never saw anything like it.

(which may be just me)...

This is another Esquire variant, with a much more generic MR with a sealed back basket in lieu of the marvelous little AlNiCo LS-8 fullrange ('extended range MR, I guess, in the Esquire).

The 'classic' Esquire

To my mind, this is the classic Esquire config. The tweeter and extended MR are in a separate box within the enclosure. eBAY habitues will recognize the carpet in this photo as that of "hifinut1"
