Interesting find today.......Pioneer SHF10's

Picked these up on a whim today to play with. FB $20.00

Normally not a big fan of Pioneer, but these have peeked my interest a little.

The cabs are shot for sure, moisture damage et att. But what makes these interesting are the 4 x 10" woofers. A little research tells me they are made by TAD, they have no surrounds, and dual spiders?

So far I have pulled out two of the woofers, and both have tested good at 12.4 ohms (this makes sense as the impedance is listed as 6 ohms, so two in parallel equals 6)









Does anyone know anything about these drivers?

Nobody knows anything about these TAD woofers?

I know nothing about them but the construction looks impressive. I can infer that they probably date to 2000-2005.

ETA: apparently TAD is a Pioneer subsidiary.

Most people can be forgiven for never having heard of TAD (Technical Audio Devices) Labs. They are a wholly owned subsidiary of Pioneer Electronics that was formed in the mid-1970s to bring Pioneer’s history of speaker design know-how into the professional audio market. That know-how being quite prodigious since Pioneer began, originally, as a loudspeaker company over 70 years ago. For 25 years since its founding, TAD developed and grew an enviable reputation in the recording studio world. Around the late 1990s, Pioneer was looking to extend its product reach into the ultra-high end market and it was decided that TAD, as a brand, was to help spearhead that effort.
