Someone in Bristol on the Hartford CL is offering a Pioneer PL 516/18 tonearm/base but no headshell for $5.00, and a repaired cover for the same price. If I lived near, it would be gone.
Someone in Ansonia on the New Haven CL is offering a pair of unnamed but large Polks from 25 or so years ago for $100. If 7 or 10s, might be a good deal.

Jeez Nat you should've told me you wanted the 518 that I brought up to Franks. If I knew you had any interest in it you would've gone home with it somehow.
Someone should give the guy with the older polks a shout. Who knows; it might even be a pair of the bigger sda's.

LOL - I was on probation as well, but wife went working and I snatched up a pair of ProAc response 2 with target stands.
Happy Holidays to all of you guys!!!!

Good luck on getting them and let's hope they're some big sda's.
I'm also on somewhat of a self imposed probation after bringing home a sansui 8 reciever and a carver tfm45 375 watt power amp just this week.

It didn't occur to me at the fest that I could just strip parts from any of the tables there -- I'm still squeamish about parting out working equipment. But with several nice idler drives with no dustcovers and not as many arms as I could put on them, I'm beginning to lose my inhibitions.

And as per usual the deals show up when I'm on my way out of town. Of course I can't even get out of my driveway right now but that's a separate discussion. Good luck on any potential scores and happy holidays everyone!

I didn't mean that you had to strip parts from any tables. What I meant was you could've taken the whole 518 home with you for very short money or a simple trade if I knew you were interested. I just plain didn't want to lug the thing back home.
I'm with you as I don't agree with stripping working units either.
