Interesting tube (?) console in CL

I found this console on CL and am thinking about going after it. I just sent the seller an email asking if it's tube or SS and if it works. I'm guessing this to be a Motorola tube model. I hope it's a transformer based tube model and not another series string hot chassis job. I'm not expecting to get too much from the seller regarding the electronics of this console; so, I'm reaching out to you guys that might recognize this model and can tell me something about it.

Well, it is indeed a Motorola and does have tubes, according to the seller. They claim that is has not been played in at least 7 years.

OK, they are supposed to be getting me a model number. I've asked for directions to their house; but, have gotten everything but directions and a model number. This may be another deal that goes sour.

I did find two more interesting consoles on CL:

An early '60's Admiral with a bargain price of $1100. They didn't like it when I told them it was only worth maybe $25. They refered to me as "Mr. record player expert" and asked me "didn't I have better things to do than criticize people on craigslist". I guess some people don't like to hear the truth.

And, an early '60's non-working Magnavox for an even lower price of $400. I have not heard back from them and probably won't.

I mean, come on, what's wrong with these people? I guess they think that everything over 30 years old is valuable. I just need to stay off of CrazyLunatics (AKA, craigslist) because I just end up getting wound up over crap that shouldn't bother me.

Or, putting on the seller's shoes, they see you as another CL crackpot. There are a few that haunt it and do make it their mission to 'correct' or flag anything that does not meet their approval. If a price is that far out bounds with reality, the item won't sell and the seller will adjust it. But in the seller's mind there is also the possibility that the next one to respond to their ad will buy it. That you responded at all with what they perceive as a low-ball offer gives credence to that belief. Similar has happened to me here in Boston after being told by our local CL scold (let's call him......rhymes with menace), that my pricing was out of whack only to have it sell shortly thereafter at the asking price.

Just sayin'........

I understand where you're coming from and I know I need to simply follow my Mothers' advice and leave those CL dunderheads alone! Everytime I go on a rant about some overpriced crap I see, she reminds me that it's their stuff, they can price it at whatever they want, and if you don't like it, leave it alone.

For the most part, I'm a "wheeler & dealer". When I do sell something, I'd rather move it than sit on it for six months in hopes of the highest possible dollar. There have been times that I've turned down offers that I thought were too low and ended up selling the item for more $ a few days later. Usually, if a potential buyer's offer comes close to mine, they'll own the item. The biggest difference between me and those idiots on CL is that I actually do RESEARCH to determine a fair price. I don't pull some big price out of my hat and wait. Like I said, when I want to sell something; I want it gone. I don't want to be looking at it 2, 6, 12 months (or more) from now.
