iPhone 6s Plus to an external USB DAC

I have a Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 and currently have my PC connected to the DAC's USB input and then to my computer by a long USB cable. Works and sounds great, but I am thinking of taking my PC out of my system. Is it possible to substitute my iPhone for the PC using the same USB cable to my DAC? If so will that Apple USB connector/adapter thingy work for this?

I don’t think so. That is one of the complaints I have about Apple iOS. I.have a fantastic FiiO DAC/Headphone amp with a coaxial input it works great with an Android phone but my iPhone it is screw you. However, Airplay 2 might be a solution. It will stream in ALAC,

I just tried plugging my iPhone XS-Max into my Yamaha RX-A770 and as expected it did not recognize the device.

OK here is the iPhone XS-Max streaming via AirPlay 2 to My Yamaha. The file is FLAC, the iPhone is transcoding it in real time to ALAC than streaming it. The beauty of this is no cable from your easy chair across the room.

I hate bluetooth as it tends to cut out and just does not sound good to me. I have never tried AirPlay is it smooth with no hiccups? Also my equipment is not AirPlay compatible, and I don't want to buy any other equipment or adapters. I mainly listen to LPs and CDs, ( iTunes from the computer when I am too lazy to get up!)

I run My iPhone 7s lighting to usb of my both headphone DAC/Amps and it work greats.

Ok. My DAC just has the square USB female input like what you might see on a computer printer. So I would need some type of connector/adapter to be able to connect my iPhone from a charging/lightning cable.

I have one but can’t remember where I got it. It’s for my Aune T1, my Teac doesn’t need it.

You will need the USB adapter from Apple. The one that has USB and Lightning inputs, so you can charge the phone while playing music.

Just FYI: earlier you were confusing the technology used for airplay... it's done via wifi and NOT bluetooth. But what @dysmike suggested is the way to go!

How are you getting FLAC files on your iPhone?
I'll let transmaster explain what he does, but I do the streaming FLAC from my computer to iphone thing with these apps:

https://www.stratospherix.com/products/filebrowser/

https://www.stratospherix.com/products/musicstreamer/

Not exactly what you asked, the files aren't ON my iphones, but in the ballpark enough that it ^^^^^^ might be of interest.
It was uofmtiger that hipped me to stratospherix about 5 years ago.

Personally, I just convert FLAC to ALAC. I don't really notice much of a difference, sound wise, and being able to manage the files with the native UI is a lot easier.

At least than anything I've found. It'd be cool if there was an easier way.
