is headshell on Yamaha YP 700 same as headshell on YP 701?

Is the headshell on a Yamaha YP-700 turntable the same headshell used as on the Yamaha YP-701?

I recently bought a YP-701 which lacked a headshell and I found an original headshell for a YP-700 but do not know if the headshells used for the YP 700 was the same one used for the YP 701.

If so, should I buy the headshell for the YP-700 for my YP-701? It is original and in good shape. Or should I just buy a new replacement headshell for my YP-701?

the YP-700 and YP-701 were virtually the same table, and do share the same headshell. these headshells come up occasionally on ebay and range from $20-$45 depending on how much competition there is. if you bought one without the finger lift, it will still work, but i'd hold out for a complete original one, and use a generic aftermarket headshell in the meantime. as long as you set the balance according to manufacturer's spec's you'll be fine.
