Is it a real contest or just a rights grab?

Seems some of these so called photography contests are just a trap for getting the rights to peoples' photos. :thumbsdn:
I have entered and won some POTD contests in the past but don't do so anymore.

Very good point.

The last 2 or 3 contests I was thinking about entering had miles of incomprehensible disclaimers, stipulations, agreements for your first born and endless legalese, that essentially said, you enter your photo... we own your photo.

Read ALL the fine print before submitting your work to any contest or event.

Even non-contest exhibitions are doing this alot recently.
I guess the short version of their conditions would be,

"we can do what we want, screw you".

The reason I won't enter many competitions.
