There is one on ebay.com/itm/Realistic-Super-Tweeter-40-1310A-Vintage-VGC-/201210310272?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item2ed911ae80
Don't know if that represents good value but at least having one as a spare means you can be a bit more brutal trying to get yours apart.

not looking to get more, just curious if it is worth repairing and how to open it without destroying it.I have a zillion speakers and need more like a hole in the head.

oops,I lied I just ordered 2 sets of these,"FOSTER/REALISTIC 40-1377 DUAL RADIAL HORN TWEETER",on fleabay.seemed like a good deal and they are new and some say sound better than the bullit tweets.

i wonder if heating the magnet might release its bond, hair dyrer?, oven?, whatever be careful!

I will give it a shot later, thanks.Ifg I could get a putty knife into the gap it might budge a little ,enough to get it open.or put the magnet in a vice and wiggle the housing? well got some errands to run check back later and try some Ideas.

Does the black (plastic?) trim piece come out, to better reveal how the speaker is put together?
I've had a poor experience with releasing a speaker magnet that was held on with bolts - once loose, it moved and tightly trapped the voice coil - it took forever to dismantle it without damaging the coil.

IMHO there isn't much value with those speakers..You will save yourself the time and effort by just replacing them.

they are not for replacing, mostly just tinkering.try to make myself feel like i AM STILL USEFULL.i AM COPING WITH ONSET OF PARKINSONS AND THEY ARE TRYING TO SAVE MY LEFT EYE,SO i AM JUST MESSING AROUND WITH SOME EASY STUFF.Oops didnt see the caps was on sorry.see what I mean I am losing control fast.I just got home from the doctors and I am in pain so I will continue this tommorow. If I get it repaired cool,if not ,oh well.I do not put a lot of value on these tweeters althogh they are good for what they are.

I've always enjoyed taking apart things that it didn't matter too much if I broke them. You might be able to repair them... or, at the least, see how they were manufactured. My guess is glue between the magnet and the horn. A screwdriver or pry bar will take care of that in short order.

Yes,Sometimes the direct approach is the only option.I will try heating the magnet before I dig in with a pry bar.one thing for sure these things are solidly built from a time when construction materred.

The black plastic ring on the front is likely glued in place. With a good flat tool, like a putty knife, and patience, you may be able to remove them. Then you may be able to pull the driver from the mounting housing, allowing you access to the wire. I have been able to do this on other drivers. If you remove the magnet, getting it back in place and centered is virtually, but not entirely, impossible.

Is it worth it? IMO, no.

I wonder what's behind the black plastic ring ?

Cool ! I'm watching, I wonder if the leads can be re soldered ?

my thought too ,my eye is not real good but I will try and do something with this coil, also I do not want to do the china ordering thing,is there a american parts supplier i can try and get the coil from.

That is the questionable part. I used a small piece to bridge across and then soldered over the end points to hold them in place. Some shellac over the wire afterward for adhesion and protection. It does work but it leaves me wondering how much I can stress this one.

I re-assembled it,until I can find a easy way to reconnect the voice coil or find a nice pair of replacement voice coil seems to be id 19mm od is 30mm. and there are silk dome and titanium to choose from(I think)will do some research.any I way I have my Bi-radials coming soon gona stick em in something,
