Is it too late to join the party?

I'm taking the plunge into tubes...just bought a Yaqin MC-100B integrated amp from that famous auction site. It should arrive here in about a week. Can't wait to hear what a tube amp has to offer. Does anyone know if this amplifier is common ground? If it's not common ground can the negative terminals be strapped? Thanks for any input.

That amp seems to have generated positive reviews, even with the tough crowd here at AK.
Try not to get too carried away with "tube rolling" (i.e. replacing original tubes with replacement tubes......repeatably).
THAT can run into some serious $$$, very quickly.

Good luck & have fun!!

Let us know what you think of the amp. I am considering taking the plunge into Tubeville myself.

Thanks for the input guys.
First thing I'll do is make sure this amp is common ground by checking the negative terminals with a voltage meter. I plan on driving Polk Audio SDA 1C's with it so hopefully this amp is common ground. If it's not common ground I'll have to build an AI-1 isolation transformer. Easy enough to build, just more money . I'll post my review of the amp soon.

That's for sure... on the tube rolling. I just laid down ~$250 for a quad of Russian 6551 round holes(same as 6SN7). I've also bought 8 Sylvania 6SN7 for a song ... I've got pairs of 12AX7 Telefunken & 12AU7 Tongsols and RCA Cleartops. I'm almost set, now I need to save up for some new KT88/KT90s. The Chinese tubes that come with this amp sound OK (bright at first listen) after burn in they sound OK nothing special. This amp sounds great with different tubes - I started with the front end tubes as I read that's where the most change happens. I haven't done anything with the KT88 tubes yet...

If you want to see the 6551 tubes I referred to, here's a pic - these are Russian Military, they used them in their nuclear program. I'm trying to get some more from my Russian connection (mom and dad in-law).

I'd be willing to lend/trade tubes with others that think you have good tubes with this amp. Swap and trade kinda thing.

Cheers,

Bob
