Is it worth buying these NOS boxes....

I have the opportunity to buy NOS speaker boxes. There from a now defunct Canadian company Called ISD. I went over to the guys place to buy new old stock grilles and turns out he kept everything when the company went out of business 15 years ago including the boxes. Is it worth buying the original boxes off the guy or just let it be as I dont think it affects the value. Though I do enjoy having the boxes for my gear.

Probably nice to have them for if you ever move or sell your speakers.

Ive thought about it and chances are im going to make him an offer what you offer for 2 x towers packaging box 2x bookshelf box and 1 center box??? I'm assuming theirs 5 boxes there could be less. In total i was going to offer around $50 bucks which seems fair. Is that fair ive never bought the boxes before.

Boxes are of great value if:

The unit is of great value and folks snap them up when they are for sale. The box adds significant value.

The unit is for sale and you need to ship it and don't want to fab a box. How much is your time and effort worth?

You need to protect the units when you move. Be nice to have the boxes.

The value is over $100 for the first one, up to 100 for the second one (you are looking at a lot of boxes) and much less for the last one as you could use moving pads to protect the speakers in the truck.

I'd ask what he wants for them, without showing too much interest. Perhaps he'd say 20 bucks?...

JMO, NOS boxes from a company that is out of business and returns little if any Google results may not be worth much.
Unless the product is something truly both rare and in demand.
Did the seller have a warehouse full or just a set or two?

If you think the speakers could bring decent money should you sell them then paying for boxes might be wise as in many cases items for sale bring more money if the original packaging is included.

Or maybe, the seller would be happy to get a few bucks to get rid of low demand items just taking up space somewhere?

He had a garage full of everything when he closed 15 years ago. Half finished speakers, drivers, crossovers, boxes more then enough parts to build more speakers. He even had his deluxe $8000 reference set of speakers half finished sitting on a shelf. He once had a store in kelowna had distribution in the 90's had reviews in hi-fi mags (98/99) then I think it went south for him and hes been holding onto everything with the hopes of starting the company again. I think Im going to pass on the boxes as a few of you have stated just not worth it. He gave me one of his brochures as well and as far I as I know I got the only one lol.
