Is there a good reel to reel repair shop in Rochester, NY?

Hey guys,
so I was just given a Revox B77mkii reel to reel deck, and it's in some need of major repairs. Is there a reputable tech in Rochester, NY that you guys really like and have had good experiences with for reel to reel repair? Since I'm a college student without a car, I can really only stay in the Rochester area, so I thought I'd ask! Thanks for your help.

I have no idea about New York. But I know that Nakdoc is somewhere on the east coast, and that Skywave is somewhere near Chicago.

Wow, that should be a step up from your TC-366. I've worked on the TC-377, but never a Revox. IMO, there's a huge advantage to going to somebody that's intimate with the unit, even if you have to wait, or deal with awkward transportation. You might check with Hionfi in Syracuse and see if Mike has worked on them. They might have somebody that swings through Rochester periodically. I would not expect a full service on something like that to be cheap.

certainly is a step up ConradH :D. Never could find the time to get the tc-366 into working shape.... I definitely agree that a full service won't be cheap, but I'm willing to pay to get this machine right :). Thanks for the suggestion!

Are you going to the AudioFest in Clinton on the 26th? That may be a good place to ask. If you can't attend let me know and I'll ask around.

And congrats on the Revox!

Unfortunately, I'll be in Rochester at college on the 26th :(. That would be great if you could ask for me though... Thanks Juan!!

I don't know, but look up Andy Babyuk (Chesterfield Kings).

I heard he runs a vintage guitar store in Rochester, he'll know where you should go.

He wrote a book about the gear that the Beatles used.

here are the biggest things that are wrong with it:

1.) The capstan board keeps blowing the 800ma fuse
2.) One of the switches needs replaced (it's broken off)

I just picked up a Teac from a guy in Batavia, he has a barnful of stuff and that is his buisiness, restoring vintage receivers, tape decks, etc. Its not Rochester but its close. I can pass along his info if it helps.

If at all possible, could you PM that information to me?
