Is there a way to mute certain forums?

Researching this question, I've found some answers from like 20 years ago and general complaining more recently, but no clear answers aside that a moderator/admin can do it for me. I'd like to block the entire Off-Topic subsection. Namely, I am tired of opening this site and seeing 15 'countdown' threads and would prefer to keep my browsing here audio-related. And though I feel I shouldn't need to say this, I will because prior threads on this topic seem to have a lot of ragging from the peanut gallery: I am not blaming anyone for coming here to talk about non-audio-related things. That's cool. But I'd like my new/recent-posts tab to be filled with more wheat and less chaff.

If this can still only be achieved at the admin-level, would someone please mute Off-Topic for me?

Edit: Thanks Tinkerbelle!

i wish!

i've been on forums before where you could click an arrow and collapse or expand sub forums. it would cut off the ads that are being pushed down many people's throats but it should be available for subscribers at least.

But I'd like my new/recent-posts tab to be filled with more wheat and less chaff.
i would guess that would not be very easy to cater every members new/recent posts to coincide with what sub forums they choose to view. it would be a nice addition but i'd say that is much more unlikely than just being able to collapse subforums you don't want to view.

To more directly answer, no; there is not an ignore thread nor ignore forum system function available to users. The only system function available to user is ignore member if someone is posting stuff you just don't want to see.

I know additional system functions in that regard have been requested over the years. Some other forums I go on have more ignore options.

Here's the thread I alluded to, https://audiokarma.org/forums/threads/wishlist-for-forum-features.799556/#post-11087315

Blocking/ignoring members is what I did (the top posters), it's just that....this is the lazy and stupid way, in my opinion...and it seems it's not working at the moment anyway. I don't want to block anybody, especially not somebody I don't agree with or don't like - they still get me thinking.

One can tailor, I presume the emphasis is on 'New posts', what is shown rather precisely.
Instead of blocking, just watch the subforums you're interested in and set the 'New posts' view/filter accordingly.

I now only see new posts of forums (Turntable subforum) and/or threads that I'm watching

This is just an example; there are, and may be, other ways to customize.

To me it would just be better to have the additional options rather other workarounds.

It would be a win-win. Those who don't use ignore now remain free not to use any additional ignore options, but said options would be available to those who would find useful function.
