IS THERE ANYONE IN/NEAR LINCOLN, NE THAT CAN HELP JBLGUY ??

Can we not just set something up to Paypal some money via CC to a central fund -- is that against AK rules? I'm in Canada until next month and shipping and receiving is a little time-consuming and a PITA besides. Besides, I don't really have much I'd sell, and I certainly don't need to buy anything. I really want to help JBL, though.

AN UPDATE

GREETINGS TO ALL THAT ARE FOLLOWING THIS THREAD.

I CONTINUE TO THANK EVERY ONE INVOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM DOING BETTER IN TERMS OF MY HEALTH AND HAVE BEEN MOVED FROM THE HOSPITAL TO A REHAB PLACE IN NEBRASKA CITY, NEBRASKA. HOW LONG I WILL BE HERE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED, BUT I AM GIVING IN MY ALL. I STILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH PAIN AND THE ULCERATIONS ON MY LEGS AND MY KIDNEYS, BUT HOPEFULLY ALL OF THE PROGRESS WILL BE FORWARD.

I GET VERY TIRED DOING EASY THINGS SUCH AS TYPING THIS POST SO IT IS SLOW GOING.

LIKE LARRY THE CABLE GUY SAYS "LETS GETTER DONE.":D I STILL HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO.

THE PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH AK MEMBERS AND OFFERS OF HELP HAVE BEEN REAL LIFE SAVERS, GOD BLESS AND A GREAT AMOUNT OF THANKS.

I AM ABOUT OUT OF STEAM, BUT I WILL TRY TO POST UPDATES AS I CAN.

I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH THE CITY BUILDING INSPECTER BY PHONE TODAY AND IT LOOKS LIKE THE HOUSE IS A TOTAL LOSS. HE EXPLAINED ALL OF THE FAULTS THAT HE FOUND IN SOME DETAIL AND I HAVE NO REASON NOT TO BELIEVE HIM. IT WOULD COST MORE THAN THE HOUSE IS WORTH TO EVEN START TO REPAIR IT.

SO NOW I MUST START TRYING TO MAKE PLANS ON WHAT STEPS TO TAKE GOING FORWARD.

Hell I just saw this now. I just skimmed through it quick. Hang in there JBLguy, and if I can help let me know, I'm in Omaha. I have a friend in the hospital in Lincoln, so I'm sure I'll be down there, soon. SPL db, et al, let me know too if there is something I can do.
On the house thing, if its city inspectors I'd tend to believe them, but the rehab people, they just make recommendations, they aren't necessarily grounded in reality. I've been through that scenario with a friend about a year ago.
If you want someone to look at what they are saying needs to be done and see if its a real situation, I can certainly help. Probably should get the heat turned on low in the house at least, its starting to get cold at night here - don't want to make it worse by freezing pipes etc before you get a plan of action together. Maybe you have someone to help handle that... just my first thoughts that came to mind.

What's the chance you maybe have insurance on the house? Is the house and/or property yours? Do you have assets that could be sold off for a possible new start somewhere economical? Surely the property alone has some value,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

However what you told me you paid for the house, and now in todays market the value of the property has gained. So really you need to weigh what you paid for the house and cost to repair and does it then still fall under market value. You can always get a morgage to do the repairs and then sell if you want to move.

HELLO DAN

YES, IT IS THE CITY BUILDING INSPECTOR.

AND I AM GETTING LOST IN THE THREADS, WHAT DO YOU MEAN CHECK MY IN BOX

I AM HAVING A HARD TIME WITH AKS NEW FORMAT.

AND THE MEDS ARE CLOUDING MY MIND AND I AM GETTING PEOPLES NAMES MIXED UP

OK - thanks to Bart (mech986), I've received emails about this issue and am now aware of what's going on. I've completely missed these threads before.

I'm kind of local (80 miles one way to Nebraska City, about 95 to Beatrice). I have to work 12 hour night shift Wed and Thurs, but can get to NE City on Saturday if necessary. Looks like we need to have someone get down there and rattle someone's cage about lost possessions, or something. I'm not going to be able to do a lot, but will do what I can. If I can somehow set up a channel for the help of others, I will.

JBL GUY, tried calling your neighbor Teresa at the number you gave but number not in service. Please check name and number again, otherwise any other contacts in home's town?

Also, do you know name of ambulance / 911 that took you to first, second, or St. Elizabeth's? Or name of first hospital, or second hospital? We'll need that info to try to track down who might have your clothes and old phone. Did you go to ER at all three hospitals? May have to check lost and founds at each transport and facility.

PM me or 4-2-7 with some options on which phones and whether GSM or CDMA. Besides the 3x minutes with a basic smartphone, there's a promo code that could give you extra 250 min. when we add the 1yr/400 min card activation. So waiting to hear from you.

I agree with trying to get someone to the house to make sure low heat is on so pipes don't freeze IF city would let anyone in, IF it is not a fire hazard, and IF someone can get the keys. John, do you have your house keys with you, and who is the neighbor who boarded the house door?

JBL: To find your private message inbox, look at the top right of the screen for 3 buttons: JBLGUY, INBOX and ALERTS. Inbox is the same as your old PM inbox although now they're called Conversations instead of PM's.

I know someone who works at a Lincoln hospital, one of the two Bryans. Thinking it's a cardiac hospital so I didn't mention it, but if it is, let me know, I'm sure I could get my guy on the inside to check into the missing stuff.

Good call on getting the heat on at the house. Gonna be 22 here in mid MO this weekend, gotta be colder up NE way.

Thanks to everyone who is putting forth some effort on JBL GUY's behalf. I hope he is doing better & I think the true nature of AK is being displayed here in an effort to help a member who is in an unfortunate position. Any chance we can pin this thread for a while so other AK members could make a charitable contribution to help JBL GUY get back on his feet?

I have my wife, Jan (a 25+ year veteran on this housing situation) on the case now. Hopefully there is an attorney on the PM conversation loop who specializes in property condemnations that can provide some legal insight. She is communicating in the PM loop.
