Is this a console?

lol, Yes and it looks like a nice one. I've been hoping to find that style of console myself.

From the looks of that house and everything in the sale I bet that console is not only in working condition but i bet it is top shape. Going to go for a premium.

I'm guessing it's a custom built cabinet - vintage early to mid 60s. Probably a garrard or elac or dual TT. The receiver could be SS or tube. My guess the speakers are custom built electro voice or some such. Probably co-axial or two ways with horns maybe.

Are you going this morning to check it out?

Go. Get. It.

...provided it's cheap.

Check out the cute little house it is in, too, while you're there. There are worse places to live! :D

Scott solid state receiver, nice Dual TT, who knows what the speakers are, could be quite interesting, or not. Nice cabinetry, and you could always put a different receiver in there. looks good.:thmbsp:

I love that style of cabinet. When you don't need to open the top to operate it, it means you can put lots of stuff up there, from a flat screen TV to more audio components.

No offense, but that seems rather high for those items. Estate sales do tend to run that way, though. Photos?

Yeah Estate sale prices have shot way way up since all the buy it cheap and resell it shows on cable these days. It's hard to find a good deal anymore.

Alright, all my loyal employees, you guys can take the day off. I think I did too much lifting yeasterday and I am sore all over today and can't make that trip out there. Tomorrow is the last day of the sale and its usually half price, so if that console is still there tomorrow maybe I will give them $200.00. Well at least somebody got something out of it. (30 records)

Seriously? I've been hitting rummage and estate sales all summer and have been picking up tons of great stuff. Not much for nice audio equipment, true, but for non-audio stuff there is loads.

I used to have that same (style) Barzilay console, and the speakers were loaded with Heathkit coaxials. Beautiful console!
