Hi,
I am working on a SG-9800 Equalizer and have a question on a couple parts.

This unit does not have a fuse in the circuitry. The unit does have two resistors in line with the rectified power before the regulation circuity.

The initial issue was a burnt resistor (R902). This led to discovering burnt transistors in the power supply.
The resistors are R901 (5.6 ohm @1/2W) and R902 (6.8 ohm@1/2W). The description/designation of the parts is "RD 1/2 PSF xxx J". These parts are listed as critical safety parts to be replaced with exact like parts.

Are these components actually fusible resistors that are the fuses(protection) for the unit? I think so but want to verify with those that know more than I do.

Normally somewhere in the manual is a key that describes the acronyms for resistors and capacitors. It may provide more detail for what resistors are Fusible vs Flame Proof.

I have read the legends in the service manual (have copies of the original). The manuals do not clearly define the terminology, so I ask for help in identifying them. Hoping someone that was around then would see the post and answer.
 
Likely. Look at the schematic legend for reference symbols. Or the parts list. Hopefully you used flame resist for the two burnt resistors.

I have an automotive repair tech and manufacturing engineering background. I used a 10-amp circuit breaker to simulate the blown part. The circuit breaker did not pop instantly but close enough for me to look deeper for the issue. That's when I found the blown transistors.
 
PSF = Flame Proof

This link from Pioneer Guru Mark the Fixer is where I found the answer by searching "PSF" in Pioneer Forum. Replace with same Flame Proof rated resistor.
