Is this stylus damaged? (V15 Type III )

I'm pretty sure this stylus is damaged.. But I wanted to check as I've just got this and I have no idea, it came with a V15 Type III cartridge on a Pioneer headshell (PL-530 turntable)..

The stylus end just protrudes a little bit but it looks like cut out, right?
In any case which is a good non expensive replacement to acquire?

You can find relatively cheap replacement ($50) styli at www.lpgear.com. I can't guarantee their performance, though.
 
Thanks guys. I think I'll try something like this one below, seems compatible. Says Switzerland made. LPGear looks tempting but Ebay is usually easier for me to buy stuff (I have to import thru a third party and it's a pain).
And every price is three times expensive here for that importer markup, so I have to stick to a tighter budget..

Note: Funny but I saw that they sell the empty Shure stylus guard that I have left.. Everything's on sale! :D
 
I would try for an EKG stylus not a Pfanstiehl if I could. They can be had for that price or not much more and are generally considered better. There's an eBay seller from Korea that I've bought from and can recommend.
 
Actually if you look on Ebay for a replacement with a barcode of all zeros, supposedly that's a JICO made model. I have one for a V15 Type II that sounds nice.

A lot of people have had difficulty with LPGear. There was a thread on the first page this morning about some dodgy practices of theirs. A couple weeks ago, a thread went on for pages about dodgy practices. I did some research outside of AK and found that the guy is a bit of a shyster. If you order from them, you might get exactly what you wanted, or you might get something used, or damaged, or maybe you won't get anything at all, including a refund. People like that don't deserve recommendations, or business of any kind. There are enough nice folks out there that are struggling with their cottage businesses that deserve our attention than to piss around with jackasses like LPGear.

Yes, well, I think I'll just move on from this hot-button issue.
 
How much is Carolesneedles charging for shipping in the US? They don't ship to Canada but the Korean guy does for less than $5 and they have always arrived quickly. It also appears to be exactly the same item. I have one right here and the box has "all zeros" on it

Yeah well it's a problem down here in Argentina, you cannot easily import yourself (as of today at least), so you need to go thru an importer. The Korea item will cost me some 53 u$s with all that markup. Which is not sooo much but it's some good money here.
I'll see if the item in the US is cheaper seing that it's the same thing. My alternative is to have a relative of mine who's in Texas to bring it in hand, but she might not do it. So I'm looking for be$t options :D
