Is this turntable what I think it is?

I recently received a gift from my father who once had a hifi store in Stockholm Sweden in the 1960s-1970s. It is a turntable and by the looks of it it seems like a transcriptor. Advise from more knowledgeable people than me is very welcome. What are we looking at here?

It looks like a regular, though expensive, turntable to me. With either an Ortofon OM5, OM10, or OM20 cartridge. Nice gift.

Thank you lavane. Just so I understand:
1. What is an ortofon
2. So you don’t think it’s a transcriptor, rather some other brand?

Yes, I also think it looks very much like a transcriptor. However mine does not have the black coloured diagonal arms in towards the circular table. On mine the circular table is supported by metallic pins that go in a square around the table… the plot thickens

Likely a design modification made at some point for ease of manufacture or cost or sonic improvement be my guess

I see. Yes that might be the case. I have looked for site where I can look up models of tranacriptors but not Romany show up.
Any advise on how to get it comfirmed properly?

Man what an awesome gift! I can't contribute any useful information, but it sure looks like a toy I'd love to play with.

could be older than any of these, this is the Saturn

whatever model you have it's an outstanding table and looks like tons of fun, enjoy

It’s a Transcriptor Skeleton with a Vestigal tonearm. Not sure I've seen one with that base before. I do have one. Wouldn’t call it tons of fun since the tonearm is a bit fiddley to setup and keep operating properly. The glass plinth can also be a bit of a problem with vibrations. Here's a pic of mine. I have a ton of info on this and the arm. PM me if your interested.
