Is this what I think it is (Shure V15 Type V)?

I picked up an absolutely filthy Sony PS-X55S turntable yesterday. I can see the potential of this table, but it's going to need quite a bit of work to restore it to its former glory. That's another thread for another day. What caught my eye when I looked beyond the dust and grime was the cartridge. It is missing the stylus, and the only identifying mark is the "V" front and center on the metal mount.

So, is this what I think it is - a Shure V15 Type V:

Back when I bought my first turntable, as a college freshman in 1979, I lusted after the Shure V15 Type IV, but ended up buying a slightly used Bang & Olufsen Beogram 3400 that came with the very nice MMC20EN (moving iron nude elliptical) that served me well for many years, but is long gone.

I like to take advantage of my occasional good fortune to experience new-to-me vintage cartridges with appropriate original replacement styli. In many cases, that means my bargains end up costing me a fortune.

So, as of today, other than overpaying on eBay for an original replacement stylus (if I can even find one), what are my options? I know JICO styli for other vintage Shure cartridges are quite popular. Is there any current replacement stylus in the $100ish range that would do this vintage Shure V15 Type V (assuming that's what it is) justice?

Too bad it's missing the stylus.

You can pay for an NOS Shure, or pay for a JICO NeoSAS, but I sure wouldn't in either case. Flip the body on the 'bay and put the money towards a current-production cartridge.

My wallet agrees, but gosh darn-it, I'd love to hear what this cartridge is capable of.

Since my cart doesn't have any identifiers on the body, when looking for a replacement stylus, how do I know if I need the VN5 or VN5x version. LPGear lists replacements in both types, but no description of the differences.

You would have to measure the opening to determine which model you have.

The Vx model should have the same size opening as the Shure M97xE.

My digital calipers tell me the opening is 2.32mm wide. I don't have an M97xE for comparison.
