is this worth it?

Yes, it looks nice and has been gone over (although there is more fine tuning that could be done, what he did is probably good enough.)

Now the reason question. Do you need it?

I am not familiar with their stuff but one thing I notice on the specs indicates to me that it MIGHT be pretty decent. The THD does not start with .0 and this is a good thing in my opinion as it indicates that they were not at this time involved in the THD wars which lead to excessive GNF and silly numbers (like 0.001%).

In my experience amps with THD figures of .1 to .3 or so sound better than the ultra low THD models.

but isnt it obsolete?

You kiddin me?

I took these yesterday...at my school. I'm 16!:

R2R is mine, sound board might be mine soon, mics are my school's.....

I would pass on that receiver since it has preamp issues. There is bound to be another better one to come up in the not too distant future. Keep your eyes open.

That is a decent price for a RT-909 if it is in good working condition. They typically bring more if all the original reels and hub adaptors are there and is in good shape.

If you want a nice starter receiver that you don't have to worry about check out this nice Yamaha CR-450 in the classified section.

I'm sure Shrinkboy would pack it good for you and you can't go wrong since Merrylander has gone through it. He is the Yamaha tech King around here. Don't buy something that you will have to fix unless you know how to do the work yourself.

Nice price too imho.
