Issue on a new (for me) AU-666

I do know an unplugged wire will buzz, but it creates the non constant noise in other inputs and not the actual aux in, the idea of running a shared ground is quite interesting and I’ll make sure to try it now.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Don’t do it my ups blew up instantly and almost killed my turntable pc and amp, luckily it’s all fine. The regulator did its job.

Surprisingly enough, now that i unplugged the whole system and plugged it back in in separate outlets after that rather scary firework (spark) display my UPS/regulator decided to take on its way to death (it effectively did just die) the noise is gone from pc and the unplugged phono in finally some progress! will be plugging the TT in too and reporting back, it probably needed a jumpstart?!
 
Try completely shutting down the computer, even unplug it from the wall. This way we can analyse one thing at a time.
Even switch off your phone. Test turntable, play a complete record and see if it pops up.

Next simple step would be full cleaning of switches and pots, that will require patience and guidance if it's your first time.

Seems i wont need it, after the ups blew up everything solved itself and its now sounding perfectly, noise is gone it seems!

What i love the most of these vintage things is that the least expected thing often fixes them. Deep and wholehearted thank you to you two, Bruno and Ben, ill now get to enjoy my now perfectly sounding AU-666!
 
You might check your electrical outlets to make sure they are all wired correctly? Those inexpensive 3 prong plug testers with the light indicators will give you a basic idea if things are kosher
